CHAPTER CONTEXT

About Local Governments

This CBSE Class 11 Political Science chapter explains Local Governments by examining growth of local self-governments through historical committees and evolution. It links the 73rd constitutional amendment act through rural Panchayati Raj institutions with the 74th constitutional amendment act through urban municipalities, giving students a clear view of how the main ideas work together. The chapter uses definitions and examples to support direct as well as application-based answers.

The chapter is useful in constitutional awareness, democratic participation, policy analysis and understanding public institutions, because students learn to move from definitions to real examples. A clear grasp of growth of local self-governments improves explanation quality and reduces mistakes in concept-based answers. For board exams, school tests and revision, this chapter helps students write clearer answers and remember important terms.
