CHAPTER CONTEXT

About Security in the Contemporary World

This CBSE Class 12 Political Science chapter explains Security in the Contemporary World by widening the meaning of security beyond military threats. It covers traditional security, human security, terrorism, global poverty, health issues, migration, refugees, cooperative security, environmental threats, and approaches to maintaining peace in a changing world.

These concepts are applied in analysing wars, border tensions, epidemics, displacement, climate risks, and humanitarian crises. The chapter shows that national security also depends on people's safety and international cooperation. For board exams, school tests, and revision, it is useful for questions on traditional and non-traditional security, cooperative security, migration, terrorism, human security, and the challenges of protecting states and citizens together.
