Manipal today stands as the enduring symbol of the entrepreneurial spirit. When Late Sri. Upendra Ananth Pai bought 107 acres of Land on this small hilltop, he knew that one day this place will be filled with “MANY-PALS”. Manipal is an anglicized word, having its roots in “TULU” language: Mannu (Mud) + Palla (Pond) = Manipal. Hence Manipal is the place where the dream of the Pais was born.
The Manipal Group of companies founded by the Pais Manipal is a Major Financial and Industrial group in India. The group has its activities spread over Financial Services, Manufacturing industry and Education (Not to Profit).
The Manipal Group was founded by two brothers, the late Sri. Upendra Ananth Pai and late Dr.TMA Pai in 1925. The Group was headed by a Visionary leader Mr.T Ramesh Pai who built the multidimensional enterprise and was the Chairman of Major Companies of the Manipal group. Mr. Ramesh Pai was on the Board of several well known industrial and commercial enterprises including India’s largest Private Sector Company Reliance Industries Ltd.
Over the years the company has diversified into many new businesses in order to meet the needs of our customers.
Journey continues under the magnificent leadership of Mr. T.Sudhakar Pai. Mr. T.Sudhakar Pai epitomizes the inherent urge of the Pais to grow through diversification. Infusing modern management techniques he is now steering the Manipal Group in its ventures into core sector and greenfield projects.
